Tara ("we," "our," "us") is a Vedic astrology and wellness app. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles, where it is stored, and your choices. We have written it to reflect exactly how the app actually works.
The short version: Your birth details stay on your device. We do not use any advertising, analytics, or crash-tracking services. The main things that reach our servers are your account, your purchases, and your Ask Tara questions (so your history follows you across devices).
You enter these to calculate your chart. Your chart is computed on your device, and your birth details are stored locally on your device only. They are not uploaded to our servers.
One exception: when you search for a birth place, the place text you type is sent to Google's Places, Geocoding, and Time Zone services to look up coordinates and the correct time zone. This lookup returns location and time-zone data to the app; the result is then stored on your device with the rest of your birth details.
If you create an account (email or Sign in with Apple), we use Supabase to authenticate you and to keep your purchases and your Ask Tara history in sync across devices. Supabase stores your account identifier and, depending on sign-in method, your email address.
When you ask Tara a question, your question and the relevant factors from your chart are sent through our secure backend (a Supabase Edge Function) to our AI provider, Anthropic (Claude), which generates the response. Your questions and their answers are then saved to your account in Supabase (in an ask_history table protected by row-level security, so only your account can read them). This lets your history survive reinstalling the app. You can delete this history at any time in the app.
If you choose to connect Apple Health, the app reads your sleep duration, heart-rate variability, and step count. This data is used only on your device to contextualize daily wellness guidance. It is never uploaded to our servers or shared with anyone.
Subscriptions and one-time report purchases are processed by Apple and managed through RevenueCat. This includes your transaction records and subscription status. We do not receive or store your credit-card details.
The following are stored locally on your device and are not uploaded to our servers: your chart-mode preference (Beginner/Advanced), cached daily pañcāṅga explanations, daily-practice streaks, and any mood-journal entries you write.
The app does not include any third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs. We do not track your behavior across apps or websites.
We never:
Your birth details and preferences are visible in the app. Your Ask Tara history is available in the app.
You can clear your Ask Tara history in the app, and you can delete your account and its associated server-side data from the app's settings. Deleting the app removes the birth details and other content stored on your device.

Tara is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "Last Updated" date, and, where appropriate, noted in the app. Continued use of Tara after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
